Validation of EASY-2005 above 20 MeV

As a part of the EFDA Fusion Technology Programme the European Activation File (EAF) containing the nuclear data for activation calculations has been extended in neutron energy up to 60 MeV, these data are available in EAF-2005. This extension is based on TALYS calculations and in order to trust such calculations it is necessary that the final data library should be validated against available experimental information, both of differential and integral type. However, there are very few integral experiments available with neutron spectra dominated by a high energy (above 20 MeV) component and therefore the comparison against differential data is the best way to obtain a first impression on the quality of TALYS calculations, as adopted in EAF-2005. This has been done by a visual comparison of the EAF-2005 cross sections against available experimental data above 20 MeV. Further, earlier intermediate energy activation libraries, MENDL-2, WIND and IEAF-2001, are used in the graphical part for additional comparisons. The differential data above 20 MeV have been found for 158 reaction channels. For each reaction a graph showing the differential data and cross section curves from the above mentioned libraries are given and, using these graphs, an assessment given which recommends if the reaction is validated or if changes to the EAF data should be made.
